DIY - Weighted Companion Cube Box!!!

/ /
(I think the material I use is known as FELT instead of FLEECE so I changed the terms. Sorrwy)

Wootz!

Well I started another of my fleece felt project (I made a dinosaur hat before this which I referred to THIS site) and this time I'm making something which I always thought about doing it but didn't... WEIGHTED COMPANION CUBE from the game Portal. :)

Well I don't have a step-by-step tutorial with pictures for this. I can roughly explain the steps though.

Materials/tools:
1. Fleece Felt -- Dark grey, light grey and bright pink. I got those from Daiso and also some craft shop. You need to decide how big the cube would be to know how much you need.
2. Scissors -- You can have two: one for fabric and one for paper and stuff, if you have OCD like I do.
3. Superglue -- I suggest glue because it would be faster to glue the stuff than sewing or whatever, and UHU is very effective (I used UHU for this project) for fleece-fleece felt-felt or fleecefelt-plastic. I'm not sure about glue gun for fabric though.
4. Cardboard - or any other material for the cube and lid. What I use is PP Corrugated Sheet and it's not really that good in this case because I cut it with scissors and it was kind of difficult.

Ok that thing above is a corrugated board. What I got is something which feels more plastic.

Steps:
1. Cut 6 boards of 13cm x 13cm (or any size you prefer). (I made the bottom and lid slightly larger to cover up the box well.) Skip this step if you are using a ready made box.
2. Glue/sew/whatever up the 5 boards to form a cube without lid at the top. Wrap it up with dark grey fleece felt. Wrap the top lid separately.
3. Cut 5 round-shaped boards (for all sides except the bottom). Wrap it up with light grey fleece felt.
4. Cut out 5 hearts from the bright pink fleece felt.
5. Paste the hearts on each round piece.

Kawaii desu!

6. Cut out 10 skinny stripes from bright pink fleece felt. Paste them on each surface of the cube (I excluded the bottom one) in + shape.
7. Paste the round pieces at the center of each surface. (Again, exclude the bottom.)

In progress...

8. Cut out bolder stripes from light grey fleece felt for the top, bottom, and sides for each surface. Then cut out squares from light grey fleece felt too for corners of each. Paste them on cube. Do the same for the lid.

9. Decorate the lid -- Well do whatever you like. I pasted another layer of fleece felt to cover up everything and made the "the cake is a lie" note. I also have two bright pink stripes between the lid and the cube.

Take note on how you're going to keep your work neat. The lid in above picture doesn't have a neat look T_T because I never planned well.

I actually wanted to make the corners bulky like the center but I was too lazy and I wanted to finish it asap. Sob.

Mission accomplished! :)
