Ok so before my ranting nature takes over, let's go back to DIY! This time, I am making characters from Adventure Time! Please take note that I do not own or create any of the characters (OF COURSE NO, AIRHEAD!) and every credit goes back to Cartoon Network and Pendleton Ward. Ward is the creator of Adventure Time.
Now so far all my DIY ideas are very much inspired by internet, TVs, games and friends. The Weighted Cube Box project was started for a friend who plays Portal and numerous tutorials I found on internet.
Tools and Materials
- Felt (colors needed are listed below) - can be substituted with other kinds of suitable fabric
- Scissor (You shouldn't use one scissor for cutting both paper and fabric!)
- Threads for respective color of felt
Jake
Now first thing first. It is obvious that making Jake only need felt of three colors: yellow (orangish yellow?), black and white. You could Google a lot more of Jake's plushies and see how you'd like it to be. I prefer to make the eyes and mouth/nose part [swollen? 3D? Not flat? Someone help me to get the right word] so I did.
Take note that you have to decide if you want to leave your sewing thread line outside or inside? (Actually it's my own way of sewing I don't know if people do leave the line inside) Let say I chose to leave the thread line inside, so I sew the white part on the black part for the eye. Now when I sew two pieces of the black eye part together, I have to put the part with white facing inside, so after I sew maybe 80% of the black part circumference (meaning length of the circle at the side) I have to flip the inside out through the 20% gap which I haven't sew up. So now the white part which was facing inside is now at the outside. Understand? It's like making the inside of a sock facing outside. Okay? :O
So look at the picture below, if you want to do the thread-line-at-the-inside trick you have to sew everything (eyes, mouth, even the ears and limbs) designed to be able to flip out later. I didn't plan much so my needlework became a little messy. Also remember to make every stitch gap tiny and neat. If the gap is too wide the felt wouldn't look nice (it's like the filling inside is bursting out) after cotton/any filling is inside.
Lumpy Space Princess (lsp)
I couldn't decide if I like LSP or Jake more! So I think LSP is easier. Sew the star and face expression, and arms, then sew them all together. Colors: purple, yellow, black. Also I sew the arms on the front body (I could do it better, I know) so I can turn the arms up and down like twisting them.
Finn
So hopefully I'll come up with more cool ideas! See you next time~ (play sophisticated ending music)

Now I notice the mouth (Nose? Lips? What is the reversed U-shaped thing under Jake's nose called?) seems weird lol. |

It's my first time making Jake! I know I could do better lol. |

"Oh my glob!" Oh and the arms are made that way so they can be folded (like the picture below). |

I like lsp :3 |
Last but not least... Finn.
I have to say... Finn is kind of a failed project. I'm sorry, Finn! I made it in half a day's time (it's a long story) and I agree I didn't put as much effort as I did for LSP and Jake. So... I think this Finn could be used as an arm rest for computer users! (because the body is too long) :D
The colors needed: white, black, nude, two shades of blue. Finn is trickier because of the many colors and parts (nude color arms attached to blue color shirt and all).

"Kill me..." lol sorry Finn |
